Little Bunny had a hen that laid eggs every day, bringing him great joy.
However, nearby lived a sly and greedy weasel. Knowing that Little Bunny had a hen and enjoyed fresh eggs, the weasel would sneak up to the coop and wait for the hen to lay her eggs. As soon as the hen laid an egg, she would cluck happily, calling Little Bunny to come and collect the eggs. But ever since the weasel began stealing them, Little Bunny never managed to find any eggs. The weasel was quick; it would snatch the warm eggs and roll away into the bushes before Little Bunny even had a chance to see.
Days passed, and every time the hen sang her egg-laying song, Little Bunny rushed to the coop only to find nothing. He began to suspect that the hen was tricking him and scolded her, refusing to feed her. The poor hen was left hungry, clucking in distress.
One day, Little Bunny finally spotted the weasel in the act of stealing his eggs. Furious, he started timing when the hen would lay her eggs, waiting by the coop every day to collect them.
The weasel, enticed by the delicious eggs, became obsessed and continued to show up daily to steal them. Sometimes it even took advantage of Little Bunny’s visits to Grandma to sneak in and grab the eggs.
Little Bunny knew he had to come up with a plan to deal with the weasel. After much thought, he had a brilliant idea.
That evening, as darkness fell, Little Bunny went to the riverbank and picked up a white stone that looked just like an egg. The next day, he secretly heated the stone until it was scorching hot, wrapped it in cloth, and placed it next to the hen’s nest. When the hen laid her eggs, Little Bunny stood guard, positioning himself near the hot stone, fully aware that the weasel was lurking nearby.
As the hen laid an egg, Little Bunny quickly grabbed it. Just then, the weasel sprang out. Pretending to be startled, Little Bunny slipped and pushed the hot stone out of the cloth. The weasel, thinking it was an egg that had fallen, rushed over to bite the “egg.”
With a yelp of pain, the weasel rolled on the ground several times, unable to move afterward. When Little Bunny approached, he saw that the weasel had lost a few teeth and that its mouth was smoking from the hot stone, leaving it speechless.
And so, with his cleverness, Little Bunny secured his eggs and taught the weasel a lesson it wouldn’t soon forget!
