2. The Blind Man Lights a Lantern

A Zen master saw a blind man carrying a lantern and was puzzled, so he asked for the reason.
The blind man replied, “I heard that after dark, everyone else can’t see anything, just like me.
That’s why I light this lantern to illuminate the path for them.”
The Zen master said, “So you light the lantern for others; that’s very kind of you.”
The blind man replied, “Actually, I also light it for myself. When the lantern is lit, others can see me in the dark and won’t bump into me.”
Insight: Helping others is also helping yourself.
